In short, the best way to describe what happens to the hair in this process is: 1) paralysis (growth stoppage.) 2) disintegration, 3) re-absortion of broken cells into the blood stream. In this manner, the nutrients supplied by the body have no follicle to feed and theoretically- it would take another 5 to 10 years for the body to create new follicles and restore eventually the vanished hair. This, of course can be avoided by periodic applications of the solution.
